Elementary track and field day update!!! With the weather not looking good for Thursday/Friday we are moving T&F day to Wednesday, May 14th. We have also moved the young kids to the morning due to the hot temps predicted for this day. 8:45-10:15- K, 1st, 2nd. 10:30-12:00- 3rd, 4th. 1:45-2:15- 5th, 6th. Please bring a water bottle with your name on it, sunscreen, and a hat! Thank you.

Just a reminder that we have our May Early Out today. Elementary students will be dismissed at 1:35, high school at 1:40. This is for teacher professional development. We will have a short celebration thanking those that are leaving from 1:45 to 2:15.

They celebrated by getting our books/certificates and some snacks/drinks! Then, they watched a video on their book’s publishing process (link is below). Finally, they brought their book to the library as that’s where an author’s work goes when published! Nice work to all! 🥰!

My name is Spencer Ruebke and I am the Elementary Principal at Hillsboro Elementary. In the month of April, we wrapped up all testing. Many classrooms are nearing the end of their textbooks and curriculum. As we get into May, field trips will be happening. Fun activities in the classroom will occur. The weather is getting nice and classrooms may find time throughout the day to do a lesson or activity outdoors. We will have people coming in from the county’s public health department to talk to the older grades about a variety of topics on a couple different days. There will be puberty education happening for the older classes as well as vaping education. Elementary track and field day and Elementary Fun Day will be held towards the very end of the school year. We will keep our eyes on the weather forecast if we have to shift those dates around. All library books are due into the Elementary Library on Wednesday, May 14th. All lost or damaged book fees are due by the last day of school. Replacement cost for a book is $20. Let’s finish the year strong with good attendance and positive attitudes! Thank you.
One more addition... The library will be open a few hours per week over the summer. More information on that will be released in the next couple of weeks.

May 14th- Deadline to return library books
May 15th- Elementary Track and field day (May 14th is the backup if forecast looks bad)
May 19th/20th- Elementary Fun Day/Movie Day- the nicer weather day will be Fun Day

North Dakota Association of Honor Society inducted new members on Monday night. Congratulations to all new members. Thank you Mr. Schill. Thank you to Bonnie Mueller for 30 years of service to Hillsboro Honor Society.
Hillsboro student council along with Mr. Schill toured Amazon on Tuesday. Students had a great experience.
