A Focus on Respect and Readiness
We want to remind students and families about the importance of coming to school on time, prepared, and ready to learn each day. When students arrive on time and with a positive attitude, it sets the tone not just for themselves, but for the entire learning community. We also ask that all students continue treating each other with kindness and respect—these are qualities that help Hillsboro shine both inside and outside the classroom.
Connecting with Our Community
We are proud to be part of such a supportive community, and we invite parents, guardians, and community members to stay involved with Hillsboro Schools. Whether it’s cheering on our students at extracurricular events, visiting our library, or taking a tour to see the amazing work happening in our classrooms, your presence matters. Together, we build a stronger school and a stronger community.
Thank you again for your support and commitment to Hillsboro Schools. Let’s keep building on the energy and pride from Homecoming as we move forward in October!
With appreciation, Dr. Carly Theis Principal, Hillsboro High School

Greetings,
In the month of September, teachers and students have been working hard in the classrooms. Many students have taken AIMS web and ND A+ tests. These tests give us a look at how they are doing compared to peers around the state and country. Also in the month of September was our homecoming week. The week was full of fun activities and dress up days. We had an exciting parade to cap off the week. The Burro Village was a huge help in making homecoming week a huge success, please thank the members if you get a chance. In the month of September, our morning announcements focused on being responsible, respectful, and safe. Moving forward, this month’s morning announcements will be focused on positive ways for students to focus and learn in the classroom. Please see the dates below for items to put on your calendars.

🇺🇸September 17th is Constitution Day! Mr. Podoll‘s seventh grade social studies students went over to the elementary to help Mrs. Podoll’s 1st graders learn about what the constitution is and its history.
They watched a quick video and read a book about our founding fathers, why they wrote the constitution and what it means to be a responsible citizen. They also colored a “mystery picture” which revealed a flag!

On Monday our seniors attended the college fair at the University of North Dakota. On Tuesday our juniors attended the college fair at Mayville State University. Both groups met with colleges, universities, and companies who offer extended learning opportunities. Discussions, conversations, and curiosity about the future were all had during these two days.
Our students have bright futures and their dedication to their high school education matters! I hope they were able to share in their excitement with you. If you have a chance visit with a high school student, ask them what their goals are, what they hope to achieve, and who inspires them. You might just be surprised at what they have to say.
