Dear Hillsboro Families,
We are off to a great start this fall, and we want to thank everyone for being part of the Hillsboro community. A big thank you for the outstanding turnout during Homecoming week! From dressing up for spirit days to cheering on our teams, your energy truly made it special. A special shout-out goes to the Burro Family Village for organizing the wonderful tailgate party before the big game—what a fun way to bring our families together.

A Focus on Respect and Readiness
We want to remind students and families about the importance of coming to school on time, prepared, and ready to learn each day. When students arrive on time and with a positive attitude, it sets the tone not just for themselves, but for the entire learning community. We also ask that all students continue treating each other with kindness and respect—these are qualities that help Hillsboro shine both inside and outside the classroom.
Connecting with Our Community
We are proud to be part of such a supportive community, and we invite parents, guardians, and community members to stay involved with Hillsboro Schools. Whether it’s cheering on our students at extracurricular events, visiting our library, or taking a tour to see the amazing work happening in our classrooms, your presence matters. Together, we build a stronger school and a stronger community.
Thank you again for your support and commitment to Hillsboro Schools. Let’s keep building on the energy and pride from Homecoming as we move forward in October!
With appreciation,
Dr. Carly Theis
Principal, Hillsboro High School

In the month of September, teachers and students have been working hard in the classrooms. Many students have taken AIMS web and ND A+ tests. These tests give us a look at how they are doing compared to peers around the state and country. Also in the month of September was our homecoming week. The week was full of fun activities and dress up days. We had an exciting parade to cap off the week. The Burro Village was a huge help in making homecoming week a huge success, please thank the members if you get a chance. In the month of September, our morning announcements focused on being responsible, respectful, and safe. Moving forward, this month’s morning announcements will be focused on positive ways for students to focus and learn in the classroom. Please see the dates below for items to put on your calendars.

There are a few items I wish to communicate with parents at this time. I don’t want to wait until the October newsletter to get the word out, so I’m reaching out with my reminders today!
Bells/School start time- The first bell rings at 8:30AM and at that time the kids who are at breakfast clean up and head to class while the kids who are playing at morning recess gather their things and head to class. The next bell rings at 8:40AM. If students arrive later than this they are marked tardy.
Lost and found- With cold weather approaching, please label coats, sweatshirts, etc. with your child’s name or initials. That way, if an item gets left out we can locate the owner rather than putting every item into the lost and found. This week, we have over 50 items in the lost and found. With your help in labeling, we may be able to find the owners of those items better!
Kitchen/Lunch room- Our kitchen at the elementary school is peanut free. The rest of the building is peanut aware. What this means is that no nut products can be brought into the kitchen. If your child packs a lunch and there are nut items, they will sit at a designated table that gets sanitized and is separated from the rest of the student body. We will make sure a friend without allergies sits by them so they aren’t isolated. But the goal here is to prevent the transfer of oils and residues. Thank you for understanding.
Lastly, some fun things! Homecoming week is next week. Monday- Pajama Day. Tuesday- Decades Day. Wednesday- USA Day. Thursday- Color Day. Friday- Burro Pride. The Elementary will also attend the parade at 1:00 on Friday with a pepfest to follow.
Thank you,
Spencer Ruebke
