Hillsboro students are very involved: Our district provides a variety of athletic, academic, arts, technology related opportunities for our students. We host the traditional prom and homecoming events, along with National Honor Society, Science Olympiad, and Academic teams. Last year we had over 140 students involved in school sponsored organizations, such as: Yearbook, FBLA, FFA, FCCLA, Art Club, Honor Society, Science Olympiad, and Student Council. In athletics and co-curricular groups we had over 245 students in grades 9-12 and 100 K-6 students participate. We have also started allowing groups 'experiential/Immersive learning' for students through travel opportunities (Ex. Close up to Washington, DC, summer history trip planned, and Art trip to Europe). #BurroPride

School is back in session on Wednesday! 🥳

HPS continues to work on HRS Level 1 - Safe, Supportive & Collaborative Culture: Developing a climate and culture that all students and staff want to be be a part of is one of our main drivers in strategic planning. Recruiting and retaining high quality instructional staff is vital for the culture of our school. #BurroPride

HPS continues to work on HRS Level 1 - Safe, Supportive & Collaborative Culture: The district analyzes itself yearly to ensure both academic and social emotional needs are met for all students. The district has invested heavily (using ESSER funds) in mental health efforts. Students have access to on-site mental health, full time school counselors at both schools, and ways to report bullying anonymously. In December of 2021 the school board passed the concept of a Therapy Dog for the Hillsboro High School. We are also able to offer an animal science class for a CTE offering. Since then Maura has been a hit for not only the students, but also our staff. In the elementary school our staff has come together to combine character with our reading goals, so monthly the counselor is working on words such as kindness and compassion, teaching lessons on these, and then all students attend a character assembly to celebrate these acts being seen in the classrooms and hallways.

HPS continues to work on HRS Level 1 - Safe, Supportive & Collaborative Culture:
Annually, all staff is a member of a HRS committee, where all stakeholders have the ability to give valuable feedback to the leadership committee to bring forward to the school board. The committees create norms, set goals, and take meeting minutes to accomplish school goals. #BurroPride

This Hillsboro School continues to work on Level 1 of the High Reliability Schools Framework which is safe, supportive and collaborative culture. We do this with our K-12 students by making sure everyone belongs.

DID YOU KNOW? The Hillsboro School committed ESSER dollars to hire two strategists at the elementary school to develop What I Need (WIN) Time to help K-6 students in reading. We also hired one strategist at the HS to help our students with academic booster sessions in gr 7-12.
