Caught Being Extraordinary is a character-based program that the elementary students are involved in during the school year. Every month teachers nominate students with a Caught Being Extraordinary nomination slips to bring to the office as a reward for behavior that is above and beyond what is expected. Those slips are read at the monthly A.R. Challenge and the students are recognized in front of their peers. Two names out of the group are chosen to receive an “I was Caught Being Extraordinary at Hillsboro Elementary” t-shirt donated by the local Kiwanis Club. The group and the individuals chosen get their pictures on the school bulletin board and on the Elementary School homepage.
